Y-shaped Mooring System ‘Goose Foot’ Comfort & Safety | Nodus Factory Industry
Sector(s) concerned: Marine Industry
Specific sub-sector: Shipbuilding / High-end boating / Deck hardware
Client: Catamaran Builder
Client's Problem/Challenge:
For a luxury catamaran builder, providing maximum comfort and safety at anchor is essential to the customer experience. This requires, in particular, a mooring system capable of effectively absorbing the boat's shocks and movements caused by wind and swell, without transmitting unpleasant jolts on board. The shipyard was looking for a specific Y-shaped mooring solution, aesthetically impeccable to fit in with the high-end image of their yachts, manufactured with great care, and whose Y-shaped connection would ensure intelligent and balanced load distribution. Standard or less technical mooring lines did not allow for this level of damping and stretch control.
The Nodus Factory Solution Provided:
Nodus Factory Industry developed a custom Y-shaped mooring system, designed specifically for this high-end builder's catamarans. The team selected a 24-ply hollow polyester braid, renowned for its flexibility and excellent shock absorption. The custom design resulted in a unique, precision-spliced and stitched Y-shaped connector that intelligently and evenly distributes the loads across the catamaran's two bow mooring points. The aesthetics were meticulously crafted, with a black braid finish that is resistant to abrasion and UV rays, and the integration of matching textile connectors (Dy-Protec® textile shackle, T-Bone connector).
Benefits for the client (Shipyard and Owners):
This Y-shaped mooring line solution provided significant benefits:
For the Shipyard:
Quality and Aesthetics: A custom-made mooring line that perfectly matches the high-end positioning of the catamarans.
Production Rigor: Precise and reliable manufacturing, a guarantee of quality for the entire boat.
Technical Performance: An optimized Y-connector for intelligent load distribution.
Innovation: Offering customers a technical and high-performance textile mooring solution.
For the Catamaran Owner:
Comfort at Anchor: Excellent absorption of shocks and boat movements for a smoother and more pleasant anchoring, even in difficult conditions.
Enhanced Safety: A reliable system that smoothly manages loads, reducing stress on the boat's mooring points.
Flexibility and Ease: The flat hollow braid is very flexible, facilitating handling of the mooring line.
Durability: Increased resistance to abrasion and UV rays for longevity in a marine environment.

OEM Shipyard Testimonial:
"For our high-end catamarans, every detail counts, from performance to aesthetics. Nodus Factory Industry was able to perfectly meet our requirements with this custom-made Y-shape mooring line. The rigor of their production is evident in the quality of the braid and the splice. We are particularly satisfied with the design of the Y-shape connector, which ensures intelligent and balanced distribution of forces on both mooring points. It's a solution that's as efficient as it is elegant." Design Office & Production Manager
Catamaran Owner Testimonial:
"Sailing a catamaran of this quality also means seeking comfort at anchor. This Nodus Factory Y-shape mooring line provides exceptional safety and comfort, even in strong winds and rough seas. What we appreciate most is the gentle absorption of the boat's movements; There are none of the violent jolts you might experience with other types of moorings. The elongation is controlled, the shocks are absorbed gently, it's a real guarantee of serenity. Gerald - Catamaran Owner
